 Premier League

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "When we thought the Premier League might be a good topic for a SEWA Trivia contest we had no idea that this years Premier League, the 6. Season, would develop into a rather exciting tournament nor did we know who would be the participants.
Often Premier League more or less was decided already in the middle of the season and in the end it usually was Phil Taylor who did win it – so I was not really gripped when the return matches started. Last year it was a little bit different when Wayne Mardle was ruled out because of his illness from which he still doesn´t seem to be entirely recovered. All his match results and the points won from them were deleted which affected John Part’s Play-off chances, challenge matches were played instead of Mardle matches and in the end it was James Wade who did win the title…"

Note: Thanks Charis! Unicorn is once again sponsoring the Trivia! So get in there and see if you can win a set of darts -- and don't forget to stop by Unicorns website to see which set you will want!

 World Championship 3

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "After the usual not really quiet Christmas days I headed back to England for the second round of the World Championship. This time there were no weather problems at all – all the snow had gone both in Germany and in England. So the flight was punctual and agreeable and almost sold out. Rather astonishing!!! I am sure not many of my fellow passengers headed for the darts World Championship – I wonder what their intentions were. Though of course London has a lot to offer for people who are interested in theater or every kind of music or any kind of museum…."

 World Championship 2

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "On Saturday the first “American” match took place between Kirk Sheperd and Scott Burnett (I forgot to mention I had seen Scotty on Saturday already). We didn’t know other than from SEWA and Facebook but nevertheless recognized one another immediately.
It honestly was a pleasure to meet him and I am sure if Fletcher knew him he would never have accused him of bad sportsmanship…
The day of his World Championship debut hadn´t started too well – full of excitement he had forgotten his darts and equipment in the shuttle bus from the hotel. He got everything back in time for the match but hadn´t really much time to warm up properly. Before Scotty played I could see that Roland Scholten was confident and was playing much better than before (but Scotty didn’t have to play him) – it seems he’d starting to recover from his shoulder injury. As he told, it was the first time he played without pain. And Co Stompe managed to win against Steve Maish. Co Stompe had played some really great matches in Wolverhampton but lost them all nevertheless so he really deserved to win finally."

Note: Don't stop there Charis -- I was riveted in the end wondering who made it where, what players shook off the snow and played great and did those who walked play even better then before? Or were they tired....ahhhh stay tuned I guess :)

 World Championship Day One

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "Though it really not is the ideal time for a house wife and mother to go to London such a short time before Christmas to visit the Dart World Champion is something one just has to visit when you´ve got the opportunity."

 Interview with Darin Young

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "Darin, I read somewhere you started playing American Darts. Could you perhaps explain how American Darts is played – not everybody seems still to know it?

It is rather difficult to answer that question . And it would take some time to explain… It is totally different to English darts. One of the main differences is the scoring; the scoring areas are different. There is a red bull’s-eye in the middle and around it is the uncolored single area. Then we have a red outer double ring and an uncolored triple ring. And then a blue ring that counts as nothing."

 Grand Slam 3

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "On Tuesday and Wednesday were the last group matches – and of course there was a lot of pressure on the players. Not many had already qualified and a lot still had a chance to qualify.

Both days the weather was not really good – it again did rain though not as much as further up in the North of England from where floods were reported."

 Wolverhampton 2

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "The Sunday Morning started with sunshine!!! And it ended dry as well. What happened in between I´ve now idea as I entered the press room at 11 am and left it 11.30 pm…

It was a rather long day of darts and quite a lot of great matches we did see and some not so really great…"

 Grand Slam 1

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "November doesn’t seem to be the best time for Wolverhampton though I heard this year never was the right time anyway. But it’s not a great experience when you have to buy something to eat and drink and it’s too windy to use an umbrella but pouring cats and dogs."

 An Interview with Stacy Bromberg

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "You seem to be around in American darts for years now – how long do you play darts already?
And how did it start?

I started playing darts in Jan. 1987. It was completely by chance. I was in a friend’s bar watching Monday night football and another friend’s dart team was short a player. They ‘drafted’ me and I’ve been playing ever since."

News for Dart Playerswazza180 writes "09 September 2009
Interview with Tony David by DFA Webmaster, Allan Summers
Allan: Hi Tony, nice to catch up with you again and allowing you to make lunch for me as we chat.
Tony: Hi mate, yes good to meet up again and yes the pumpkin soup is on the gas top.
Allan: Tony, the last time I visited you, you were looking rather grey and not well at all, yet today you seem to have some colour back in your face does that mean you are feeling a little better today than last time?
Tony: Yes, I do feel a bit better today, maybe it was because I knew you were coming to see me and help me with my dart practice :"

 The Las Vegas Desert Classics

News for Dart PlayersCharis writes "For me the Las Vegas Desert Classics though a PDC tournament always were an American tournament – probably because Las Vegas for me is some kind of embodiment of America.

Funny enough or might be in the end not really funny is that from my outside view the Americans never really adopted the tournament – the qualifier is still after all those years dominated by the British PDPA players and it never attracted the American masses to watch – it’s really not well known for a lot of atmosphere it’s more the opposite to the Premier League evenings which have got almost too much.
