The SoCal Brigands, coached by Dart_talker
versus
TheSteelCurtain, coached byReggiedarts
The Brigands start on Offense, and Dart_talker calls a run into the 19s. The Running Back follows the Fullback, with a pulling Guard making it three men hitting the slot. The Curtain was Steel in this case though, Reggiedarts plugging three of his own men in there. Three on three, blocking worked enough for a two yard gain. Second down on the eight.
Southern Cal sets up again, shifts and sends another three right this time, smacking into the 17s. Guard and Fullback blast into the opening, catching the Curtain overshifting, only one man managing to meet the onslaught. Three on one gains five yards! The Safety saving the Touchdown. Third down on the three yard line.
Dart_talker fakes a sweep and sends the lone Back into the 16s. Reggie's team didn't overplay and two defenders see the Brigand Back with the ball and catch him in the backfield, loss of two. Fourth and goal on the five.
SoCal drives right up the middle, Bullrush, but the handoff never connects and no one has the ball! The Steel Curtain run-blitzes two men, the QB falls on the ball for another loss of two.
The Brigands fail to score.
The Steel Curtain takes the field on Offense now. First and goal to go.... Reggiedarts sends the play in.... sweep left into the 16s. Left Tackle pulls off the line, leads the charge for the pair of Backs, three men powering around the end. SoCal's right side lineman meets the charge as does the right Linebacker. Three on two gives the Curtain a three yard pickup. Second down on the seven.
Staying on the left, three more Steelers plow into the 19s, catching the Brigands looking for a change. Only one SoCal player fills the gap, slowing the charge long enough to save the touchdown, but a full five yards are gained. Third and goal from the two!
With short yardage, Reggiedarts decides to power up the middle and Bullrushes, the Center handing the ball off and then plunging straight ahead. The Quarterback keeps it, puts his head down and rams in behind the Center. Dart_talker had no defense for this and the remaining two yards are gained - Touchdown!
Reggiedarts has his Steelers line up on the three yard line to go for the two point conversion. Wide right around the end, into the 15s, three Steelers sweep and head for the endzone. Two Brigands scramble out to intercept them, but two against three isn't quite enough, and the Steelers just make it in! Two points.
Final Score:
The Steel Curtain 8, SoCal Brigands 0. _________________ My darts were born of father's play, decades later to leagues then led.

First on Offense are The JMEs .... hoping to catch the Defense watching the ends, the Blue & Gold strike right up the gut on first down. JME sends three, but like so many misdirection plays, you have to give the Defense time to commit elsewhere. The Blitz-Kreigs didn't and three were at home still. Even so, the power of the Center and a heavy Fullback ploughed for two yards. Second and eight.
Left end run, Guard and Fullback, three go wide. The Blitz-Kreigs are as quick as their name and once more three meet three in the 16s. Two yard gain. Third down on the six.
Stutter right, then coming back to the left off tackle into the 19s, the JMEs only send the Running Back on his lonesome. LOD read it well and had a trio of defenders awaiting him. Loss of three yards! Fourth and goal on the nine yard line.
A strong surge to the 15s in a last ditch effort by the Blue & Gold, a four pronged attack! Four on three gains a good four yards, but that's well short after the big loss.
The JMEs fail to score.
The Offense of the LOD Blitz-Kreigs takes the field. First and goal at the ten yard line. Chewy sends his first attack wide to 15s, pulling almost everyone possible on the right side of his line! Five go in a pure power sweep! The JMEs were quick enough to respond with a full three, but were outnumbered big time - the BKs rampage forward for a ground churning seven yards! Second and goal on only the three.
Quick count and a plunge up the gut. The Blitz-Kreigs' QB follows the Center, meets only one defender head on, but still only good for two yards before the rest collapse on him. Third down, on the one!
Pitch left, slant back to the 19s, LOD's Fullback shoulders in behind the Tackle and three head for the goal line.... JME counters with only one down Lineman in the short distance there was... Touchdown!
The Blitz-Kreigs have more in the tank, so line up on the three to go for two. The Quarterback drops back, shoots a flare pass to the Running Back who heads up the 16s.... with a pulling Guard, a Tight End and a Fullback all part of the charge! Four men overpower the three JMEs and the two-point conversion is successful!
Final Score:
Blitz-Kreigs 8, JMEs 0 _________________ My darts were born of father's play, decades later to leagues then led.

The Drum Corps, The Berea Pirates take on the Hooligans.... I think we'd better not play this out in White though, Drummer, we would bug every reader's eyes out, lol. I'll give you bolded Black instead.
The Hooligans had to find a new Defensive Coach before they could take the field, lol... and so it is only fitting that we test him out right away.
The Berea Pirates, first and goal to go on the ten yard line, get the game going. The Drummer signals for an end run, both Backs racing into the 15s. Covering that side well, the Hooligans' defense has three coming on a blindside blitz. Loss of one!
Back to the line of scrimmage come the Pirates. Same side, a slant off-tackle into the 17s. Once more the new Defensive Co-ordinator for Hooley is on top of the action, three meet two and another yard is lost.
Faking every which-way, The Drummer calls for a Quarterback sneak into the 19s, hoping to catch Hooley off-Guard.... No chance, three on one this time, and they drive the unescorted ball carrier well into the backfield before he goes down - loss of three, all the way back to the fifteen yard line now. Fourth Down.
Sweep to the 16s has Berea looking to outrun the Linebackers. No luck there either, two go out but they find three Hooligans in the flat. The Pirates are the ones flattened for one more loss, of another yard. Turnover on Downs. Berea does not score.
The Hooligans' Offense tag-teams the Defense off of the field and The Drummer makes his stand.
Coach Hooley decided to play this game flat out, that becomes apparent from the first play. Shotgun formation... snap back, Quarterback heads wide left. Both Backs race out in front and form a wedge with the Tight End. Four men pound to the 16s. The Pirates were quick and met the challenge well with the Defensive End and the Rightside Linebacker taking out the first two blockers. The Middle Linebacker got over in time to do some damage and the rush ground to a halt, but not after a hefty gain of four yards. Second and goal from the six.
Hooley liked the results of that play, so decided to try its mirror image to the 15s! Four players went wide right on a sweep. Berea's Middle Linebacker was flagging from the previous play so only two Pirates were there to stem the initial tide. Four on two gains a full five yards, with the Safety slamming the door shut just barely in time to save the TD. Third and goal on the one!
The Hooligans ran closer to the middle on the next play, between Center and Guard into the 17s. Just the Fullback and Running Back this time, but there was only a yard to go and they picked the right hole to attack, the Pirates only had a single defender plugging it. Touchdown!
Going for the two point conversion, lined up at the three yard line, the Hooligans drive right up the gut, Center blocking sideways to seal off the opening, and the QB following the two Backs. No one left on the Pirates to get in the way on a quick hitter, and the Hooligans are standing in the end zone once more.
Final Score:
The Hooligans 8, Berea Pirates 0 _________________ My darts were born of father's play, decades later to leagues then led.

The BBBs take the field for the first offensive set. The Quarterback is under Center, there's the snap and he drops right back.... looks right, swings back to the left and hits a Running Back flaring out into the flat. A pulling Guard, the Tight End and the strong side Tackle all lead the way into the 16s. Three sets of shoulder pads square off on the two Bill defenders, clearing a wide swath. It's five yards downfield before the Back is brought down! Second and halfway to go!
Calling the snap count, the QB stutters and barks, but no one jumps offsides. The Covahs go in motion as the ball hits the Quarterback's hands. Both Backs and the Guard make headway into the 19 slot, overpowering the two Buffalos in their way - another three yards. The Covahs can smell the goal line, third and two.
Using his left foot to signal the Tight End to head to the center of the formation, the QB takes the snap as the extra blocker nears. The Tight End and both backs hit the 17s as the Quarterback fakes a pass to the right side. A full three Bills stay at home though, no one's fooled. Even so, with only two yards to go, the Covah Running Back just breaks the plane of the goal line - Touchdown!
Deciding on the two point conversion, TripleB's forces take a spread formation, stringing the defense thin. As the count is yelled out, both Tight Ends motion to the backfield and no less than five Covahs head right up the gut, bowling over the two Bills there. The convoy celebrates in the end zone!
The Buffalo Bills' turn. PMack shifts left and stays there, Guard and Tackle blowing off the line like their bovine namesakes. Both Backs follow and the four take on three Covahs in the 19s. Gain of four!
Second and six on the six. The Bills' Center hikes the ball directly to an offset Back, who trails a blocking duo of Guard and Fullback into the 17s. The defenders match the attackers and the run grinds to a halt after a pickup of two. Third and goal from the four.
Pitchout wide right, but the swinging Fullback isn't used to cutting sharply. Before he can regain his footing, three Covahs converge and trap him for a loss of three!
Fourth and desperation on the seven yard line. Buffalo heads back left on a power sweep. Four motor up the 16 slot, outnumbering the three TripleB defenders. A good gain of four just isn't enough at this point, and the Bills are stopped well short of scoring.
The TripleB Covahs 8, The Buffalo Bills 0. _________________ My darts were born of father's play, decades later to leagues then led.

Do we just want the four winners to keep going and finish a short tournament?
